State Attorney Steve Meadows announces the sentencing, in Washington County Circuit Court, of Lori Ann McCovery, on a charge of sale of cocaine.
McCovery, 46, of 613 9th Street, Chipley, was convicted January 24, 2006, for a sale occurring June 20, 2005. Acting Circuit Judge Colby Peel agreed with Assistant State Attorney Barbara Finch, that McCovery should be treated as a habitual felony offender and imposed a sentence of 30 years in prison. The habitual offender finding allowed the Court to sentence McCovery to twice the statutory maximum.
State Attorney Meadows said, “We will continue to aggressively pursue those who sell drugs to our citizens. We are pleased that Judge Peel agreed that the habitual offender sanctions were appropriate.”
