May 22, 2008 Man convicted in armed robbery of family
State Attorney Steve Meadows announces the conviction, in Bay County Circuit
Court, of Joshua Hamby on a charge of Principal to Robbery with a Firearm.
The four males, two females jury deliberated about 90 minutes before
returning with the verdict around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hamby, BM, DOB:
9-16-1986, of Panama City Beach, was found guilty in the December 2, 2006,
robbery. Prosecutor Tim Register produced evidence that Hamby and four other
men followed a family home from the Panama City Mall and robbed them in
their driveway. Three of the co-defendants returned from prison to testify
against Hamby. A .25 caliber handgun was used by a co-defendant. The
evidence showed that Hamby was in possession of a BB gun.
The remaining co-defendant is at large. He failed to appear for jury
selection and a warrant is outstanding.
Sentencing is set for June 13, 2008. Hamby faces a maximum of life in prison
